A Foreign Policy and Its Consequences

Once again, on a beautiful September 11, Americans must absorb outrageous, deadly, radical Islamic assaults on fellow citizens. These particular citizens were representing America in Egypt and Libya.

Apparently there are two things in the world we now live in that are inevitable. First, any nutcase with a camera can get immediate worldwide attention if he is sufficiently provocative. Second, Islamic crazies will use provocation and any other excuse available to attack the United States and her citizens.

We do, however, have control over our own government’s response to these facts of life. While they are now backtracking under withering criticism, it appears that our embassy in Egypt apologized for the film that apparently incited the attack; that apology came before the attack took place. It was that apology — drawing attention to said film — that encouraged the mob.

When will the Department of State and our president understand that weak, apologetic responses to atrocious behavior do nothing to discourage radical Islamic fanaticism — and in fact do just the opposite?

This is part of a bigger picture. The U.S. has been weak-kneed before Russia and China as they build and expand their empires. We sit on our hands as innocents are slaughtered in Iraq and Syria. We are in the process of giving up hard-won victories in Iraq and Afghanistan, where, by the way, we continue to be slapped by the Afghan government on our way out the door. We leave behind only the blood spilled by our brave men and women and our financial aid.

So far, this has all worked for Obama politically, with a citizenry tired of conflict. The military is all that anyone wants to cut. But we cannot continue down the road with a growing and manifest weakness of American will and spirit without serious consequences. A scaled wall and a burned American flag in Cairo and dead ambassador and diplomatic officials in Benghazi planned for and perpetrated on 9/11 are small indications of what tragedies lie ahead.

You are right as usual, Fred. Keep talking. We’re with you.

  2. Brenda says:

Not that I believe that the embassy attacks were really set off by a movie nobody’s seen and a few disrespectful comments about Mohammed, but if we’re going to try to be respectful of other religions to ease tensions does it really make sense for our Vice President to continue to spout off that GM is alive and Osama Bin Laden is dead on international news to garner votes? Is that not an equally stupid, inflammatory thing to say?

  3. Just paraphrasing the words uttered to Chamberlain in 1940: :”Go, in the name of god, go.” Obama and your coterie must go. All they have shown is that is OK to weaken our military, lie, and bow to foreign powers, be it Putin or the king of Saudi Arabia.

There is considerable evidence which can be drawn from authenticated archive material about the true human nature of The Islamist Prophet during the time he spent on this earth. My understanding – without actually quoting the inhuman deeds he got up to – is that if he had lived today he would have been put on trial and charged with inhuman and degrading acts against humanity and if not subsequently executed would certainly have been locked away in prison for life. Probably in a very secure sector to ensure his own safety from fellow prisoners.

Would some agency please have the guts to dig out all this material and have it published so this prophet can at long last be named and shamed worldwide.

    Fred,

My dream has been for the last 5 years that you would be sitting in the WH. I guess I have come to live with the reality that will probably not happen. I can still read your intelligent responses to the “boobs” that are in the WH today. Please keep up the good work!!

    From another real American.

I read the polls today, oh boy,
It seems Obama leads in 3 electotal Romney must win states
Of course this poll was conducted before
Our ambassador was sodomized and killed
Now that the cupboard of Obama is now laid bare
I wonder if the US will finally wake up
And find out how many electoral votes make up the electoral college.
I’d like to turn Obama offfffffffff

The Middle East is a cesspool and will always be a cesspool. This hand wringing about innocents being slaughtered is pointless. It is none of our business. We need to get out of there, put a virtual fence around it, make it known that any export of violence will result in a metal storm that will break all their stuff and set them back even farther. I am sick and tired of sacrificing the blood of Americans in a half-assed war for anyone in the Middle East except for Israel.

  8. Brenda Ward says:

These extremist will always hate us, we must be strong in our rhetoric and in our military might it is the only thing they understand. This administration has tried the apologetic strategy with object failure. Now they want Americans to not say mean things about Mohammad. Well forget that. Build our military, flex our muscle and let’s be Americans

  9. Anne Parker says:

You are right on many counts. BUT until you fully ealize that this President is a liar in all things, most importantly he is a Muslim. When you start to see everything through that prism, it will bring clarity to your understanding. He cares not about the death of those who are NOT Muslim. Think back to the reactions he has shown to every Muslim radical attack on us..individually or massively

  10. Curt Yeary says:

When we have an islamic radical as commander in chief what should
we expect from this group in DC?

  11. Angie Richardson says:

Fred, thanks. This is the clearest explication of what the hell happened that I’ve heard yet.

  12. BLH557 says:

There is actionable intelligence available that these attacks were not related to this film, which has been out for over a year, but were, in fact, planned “commemorations” by Al Qaeda and its affiliates. This information should be reported rather than the old news about this film and trailer. Yes, this IS a free speech issue and goes to illustrating the peacefulness of Islam quite succinctly. But, it is also an issue of the fact that our enemies are Islam’s majority in the Middle East. My personal opinion is that they should carpet bomb the protesters and get the Hell out of Egypt. At least the Libyans had the common courtesy to immediately release an apparently heartfelt apology. Now, they should let the Marines, CIA and FBI take over the investigation, capture or kill the security guards, who pointed out where the Americans were, and they will soon have their perpetrators.

With this administration of deniers and apologists… fat chance anything will happen.

  13. You are so right on all counts. This administration is Hell-bent on emasculating America, bankrupting America and corrupting America to make her the laughingstock of the whole world. He doesn’t know who and what’s he’s messing with, however, and Who, in the end, he will ultimately have to answer to. He will reap what he has sown. Thanks-JS

Sending billions of dollars in aid to these countries that nurture and support islamic radicals will not buy appeasement or peace. It only provides them the opportunity to promote their radical ideas. We cannot buy their allegiance. We cannot buy their compassion or understanding. The radicals use any excuse to protest and have absolutely no regard for human life. Apologizing for any minor indiscretion does not satisfy or placate their blood lust and only shows weakness. We cannot come to terms with the radicals. When will we ever learn. I am having flashbacks to the Jimmy Carter presidency and 1978. Our only hope is to have Ronald Reagen rise from the grave and make America strong again.

  15. Geoege Brodrick says:

Conservatives are right, I am voting Republican straight ticket. Romney and Ryan are the best team leaders we have had in decades! Let’s win this election and steer our country in the correct direction that benefits all Americans. Pro life, pro traditional marriage, pro family, pro God, pro constitutional values!

  17. these people do not need any reason for commiting murder. they just look for one to justify their actions to themselves and those who agree with them. they were planining this for some time for the 9/11 aniversary any one of the anniversaries it does not matter ten years eleven years twenty years i believe this is how they celebrate our patriot day. i am tired of people making excuses for these killers who do not need any reason to kill they enjoy it. they did not riot and murder because of a movie about anything they did it because this is their form of entertainment.

  18. Harold says:

    Fred..
You have succintly put the administrations stance on ‘these’ foreign affairs. When will John Q Public wake up to the rality abroad?

  19. D Settle says:

    Right On Fred as usual.

  20. Jackie says:

Will those who think Muslims are PEACE LOVING please stand up. Will those who think that the Muslims’ Mohammad lives by the Ten Commandments please stand up. I think by now anyone who has seen our Embassies blown up, one of our Ambassadors murdered and drug through the streets, cannot possibly believe the Muslims are peace loving. They are out for Jihad…to kill Americans. I predict there will be much more killing of Americans in the very near future, unfortunately unless we have a leader who will take a strong stand against those who hate us so much. Obacktracker is not the one to lead our nation now or ever!! VOTE FOR ROMNEY/RYAN IN NOVEMBER 2012.

  22. VBingham says:

As long as Americans remain duped into thinking that a bunch of Saudi terrorists brought the nation to its knees on 9/11 and brought down 3 buildings with 2 planes.. we will continue the descent into chains. As long as Americans hold to the myth that Obama is the root of our problems and not both a symptom and a pawn, our liberties will continue to vanish and the nation we once knew will become a ghost of its former self. As long as Americans continue to believe the carefully designed propaganda purveyed by NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, Time, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal and even FOX, this empire is finished and global rule will become a reality.

  23. Frank May says:

On the morning of September 12, Sec. of State Hillary Clinton spoke at a press conference regarding events in Libya and Egypt on the previous day (and continuing). Shortly thereafter, Gov. Romney made his statement and answered questions. One reporter asked about how Gov. Romney would handle the situation, and in his answer he declared the use of military might should be on the table. I recalled previously hearing three of his several considerations, namely,

    1) only commit our forces when clear and vital American interests are at stake;

    2) use overwhelming force and fight to win with the objective to defeat the enemy as quickly as possible;

    3) have clearly defined goals and objectives.

—— If this sounds familiar, these three – and two others – are the basis of a statement which became known as the “Palin Doctrine” which was included in an address Sarah Palin gave to military families in Denver on May 2, 2011.

Sorry Fred. One counterpoint to your commentary. THERE ARE NO INNOCENTS IN SYRIA. This is just more Arab “Spring”. Please, please, please let the Syrians take care of their own business. In case you hadn’t noticed under Assad, NO ATTACKS ON ISRAEL.

  25. ERNEST B LAPLANTE says:

As long as the citizens of this nation sit with apathy and accept the do nothing political correctness from those in Washington nothing will improve in this country. I fear that as the muslims living in this country breed and grow stronger the day will come when they will rise and we will have a civil war on our hands that we must win or die. The very bad thing about this is that it will be our children and grandchildren who will be in the battle and it will be our fault for it.

  26. giley says:

There is no reason in the world why we had to lose 4 brave souls at our embassy in Egypt. There should have been tight security and protection there. Obama is the destroyer of what America has represented for over 200 years. Our values have been damaged and Constitution trampled. There is ample proof to have him impeached period. He is a fraud but continues to do as he pleases. I realize that the Democratic Senate would never impeach him if Congress moves to do so. We’re living in very dangerous times here in America.

    • Bev Hall says:

You have the wrong country. Libya allowed the murder of our Ambassador and 3 other counselate personnel. It is even more heinous because the U.S. supported Libya in their “Arab spring” uorising. Our Ambassador was highly regarded and liked and yet he was murdered. What do you think the terrorists would do to all the rest of us if given the chance? I say cut off the billions of aid we send them. Were are paying them to burn our embassies and kill our brave people? Why?

  27. Bill Peacock says:

What else do you expect when this country has a “muslim” wuss-in-chief
masquerading as a leader sitting in the people’s house and telling
americans that they belong to the government, not the other way around.
    Welcome to the Democrats plantation.

I cannot voice my opinion nor comment because as an homeland security designated enemy of the state by virtue of my veteran and patriot atatus I fear being locked up in an American gulag or a FEMA camp . I cannot be sending comments too fast because this is my first one to this site .

  29. Ron Culler says:

A Most of my military career was spent in the area of Intelligence and a number of those years were looking at the Mid East. Never believe in coincidence (Intl #1 rule) always investigate. Is it a COINCIDENCE: one of the first things our President did upon assuming office was to go on an apology trip to the middle east cutting our position there, President Barack Hussein Obama stated he sides with Muslims, BHO puts down our relationship with Israel, BHO condones Arab Spring, no ammo for the Marines at the Embassy, although we knew (48hours in advance) the Embassy’s were to be targeted on 9/11 no warnings were given and really; the President has not been to a security briefing for two weeks.
“According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and “lockdown”, under which movement is severely restricted.”
“Pretty explosive stuff. I would expect this has something to do with the Muslim Brotherhood’s deep infiltration into the Barack Hussein Obama Regime, along with the fact that Barack Hussein Obama himself has stated that he will stand with Muslims, and has proven, with his actions, that he respects Islam far more than he respects America.”
“If we can’t see the difference between good and evil, if you can’t see that a president continually lies to your face, if you can’t see that a man who has not been to a briefing in two weeks, has only gone in the last year to 4 is it 38% of his briefings, that we had a warning 48 hours in advance and this president didn’t put out an alert to the embassies, that the guy he assigned to Libya was flying in to Libya after the warning had come in and he didn’t alert him! That while that ambassador was being sodomized on the street and killed and our NOC list was being taken, the president didn’t even have the wherewithal, the care to stay awake, to find out what was going to happen, how he could help, to brainstorm to bring somebody in with an idea on what we should be doing. He decided to go to sleep. Oh, my gosh. America, character matters,”

Now ask yourself what is the TRUTH and how can we find out what’s going on?

  30. Possibility that this is what the current administration wants? If this activity should spread to the U.S. shores, would this not be a good excuse to declare Martial Law?? If occurring before 6 November, eliminate the election? If occurring after November 6, declaring the results null and void????
Sure seems to fit scenario of his actions.

  31. Leonard says:

America needs to stop sending aid to Libya,Egypt and and anybody who attacks our embassies.Lets support Israel and secure our borders at home. All Mosques in the U.S need to be monitored by the FBI.

  32. Ann Wilson Kingsley says:

Is part of this because of a world-wide weak response to rioting mobs? In the Old West, a man could be hung for horse stealing. In Paris, over 1,000 cars can be burned with little more than a few arrests. It seems that citizens need to be armed and have the laws behind them to band together to shoot raging mobs. The reason horse thieves were hung is because the thief destroyed the owner’s ability to make a living – to feed himself and his family. Loss of an automobile carries the same destruction to life. What about the working mother who must deliver a child to childcare, children to school, then herself to work. What if she also has an evening class? Rioting mobs need to be treated with a whole lot less respect, and some of this insanity would stop. People who are so dirty that they blame everyone else in society for their financial problems or lack of respect for a “tawdry” deity do not deserve a great deal of consideration at anyone else expense. If we are going to have embassies in these rough unstable countries, we need to place gun turrets on the roofs and arm all of the Marines with the meanest automatic weapons available. If I were a Marine being posted to guard duty with an unloaded gun, I would decide that this is not a military post, and that I needed to be paid a very large bonus to do this “insane” civilian job. This is much more dangerous than ordinary combat duty. Soldiers are ordinarily allowed to protect themselves.

  33. Mary says:

It should be clear to everyone why we were not attacked on American soil on 9/11. They don’t have to. Our president is successfully doing it for them. It’s hard to understand that with all the great legal minds, why he is still holding this office. Without a doubt, anyone else would have been imprisoned long before now. Surely there is far more common sense than the polls are indicating. This man hasn’t a clue as to how to govern this country—hence the czars. His presidency has been about family vacations, touring the world on taxpayer money and a want-a-be TV star. By the way, did anyone catch the backtracking on his promise of hope and change, the main vote getter of 2008? Well that was the responsibility of the American people. It was their hope to make the change. Make no mistake—Obama destroys America within, while his Muslim terriorists destroy us abroad.

  34. Doug Gehman says:

The real outrage is that innocent people – our ambassador for one – we’re killed over a stupid movie. Every day in our media other religions, namely Christianity, is mocked and villified, but Americans, even American Christians, take it all in stride. The Muslim radicals aren’t really outraged by these so-called offenses. They are opportunists manipulating people for their own ends. Nothing more. It is weakness and poor judgment for our leaders to apologize or even comment.
